John Joseph "Rinty" Monaghan -
World Flyweight Boxing Champion

Famous in the post-war period, eventually rising to become undisputed world champion and a hero to many people in his home city of Belfast.

The Kestrel Trophy

Commissioned by The Merchants of Edinburgh Golf Club. The trophy was cast in silver by Hamilton & Inches, Edinburgh, and is played for annually by juniors and seniors of both sexes.

John Caldwell

John Cadwell was an Irish boxer who won the bronze medal in the flyweight division at the 1956 Summer Olympics in Melbourne. Caldwell was considered a supreme fighter whose class and skill saw him claim a medal in 1956 and the world bantamweight crown in 1961.
