Over the years, I have sculpted several military memorials and consider it a signal honour to have three memorials erected at the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire, England.
Alan Beattie Herriot
RAMC WWI Memorial
The Royal Army Medical Corp commissioned the memorial. The finished statue was mounted on a Balmoral granite plinth and was unveiled by HRH the Duke of Gloucester May 2014.
The Durham Light Infantry Memorial
The commission pays tribute to those who served in Korea.
DLI trustee Brigadier Robert MacGregor-Oakford, “The DLI made a major and almost unique contribution to the defence of its country for over 200 years”.
“DLI soldiers and their families endured huge sacrifices in doing so, with 12,000 losing their lives in the First World War.”
Queen’s Own Highlander
The statue depicts a soldier of the regiment on patrol in typical kit c. 1975-80
This statue was modelled on Lt. Col. David Blair who was among the Eighteen soldiers killed at Warrenpoint, Armagh, N. Ireland 1979
